Waterman Statue Restoration

The Waterman was commissioned in 2007 by the Port Penn Historical Society by chain saw carver, Jacquin Smolens. The Waterman is displayed on the grounds of DNREC's Port Penn Interpretive Center at the corner of Route 9 and Route 2 (Port Penn Road). This is the second statue he has carved for the Society.

The statue was moved to the workshop of a local woodworker who is doing the restoration. Thanks to the crew at Cutting Edge of Delaware for their help. (Photos courtesy of Linda Beck)

The finish must cure for a few weeks so look for an installation in early spring 2020.

Please note that this restoration has been made possible by the generous contributions of our members and supporters.

This project is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.
